A scopist provides computer-aided transcription services for court reporters. The scopist receives the reporter's translated, unedited, unresearched notes on a computer disk or via email. After translating any undefined stenotype into English, punctuating, researching and formatting, and flagging any questionable areas, the transcript is then returned to the reporter ready to be proofread.
Using a scopist greatly reduces the amount of time a reporter has to spend on a job, thus leaving the reporter free to accept additional jobs or spend time with family and friends.
